So it’s no secret that I am a desserts kinda girl. I can bet your sweet tooth has got nothing on mine. I take after my Dad, most definitely in preferring a chunk of chocolate over cheese. My Mum on the other hand, she’s definitely a savoury woman. Anyway, I am digressing. I have a sweet tooth. So imagine my delight when I was invited to Heavenly Desserts in Leicester to review some of their most popular dishes. Imagine my disgust in myself however, when I found out that Heavenly Desserts has been in Leicester for a good few years!!
I have been missing out on divine desserts for all this time! It’s also open until 1am on Fridays and Saturdays, meaning you can walk into the restaurant after a few cocktails and indulge in some deliciousness. Now I have tasted Heaven, however, and there’s no going back. I took my friend Charlotte with me, who in actual fact is not a big sweet lover. I figured who better to take than the polar opposite of me. After all, she’s probably one of the best types of people to try and impress! I know that if she gave it the thumbs up, this review could be a great one. And well… she, and it, did not disappoint.
We walked in and the first thing we noticed was how… upmarket (?) Heavenly Desserts was. It’s located on London Road amidst a clutter of restaurants, and this one didn’t look out of place, I’d even go as far as saying you would assume they would sell high end dinner if it wasn’t for the literal clue in the brand name. It is, however a five star restaurant, so it’s always a great place to visit whether you’re wanting a main or not! It was a Saturday and the booths and tables were all full of families, couples and friends. We were told that it is quite often fully booked, and there are often wait times at weekends, something that regulars and new customers are more than happy to do. I was excited to find out why.
We were seated and greeted by the wonderful Manager who talked us through the menu. They have their bases- the crepes, brownies, cookie doughs and waffles as well as a variety of toppings to cater for every taste. They also do milkshakes, mock tails and flavoured teas. Every season, the company have some new additions to the menu, but they always have their staple customer favourites. There was every topping on the menu from chocolate sauces to fruit to Ferrero Rocher- a complete winner for me.
Due to us reviewing the restaurant, we were lucky enough to be able to try a little bit of four waffles, in one. Usually the waffles come whole with a selection of the toppings as stated on the menu. Our quad consisted of a quarter of each of;
- I’ll Have What She’s Having Waffle: American Waffle With Milk Chocolate & Strawberries
- Secret Sensation Waffle: American Waffle With White Chocolate & Raspberries
- Ferrero Rocher Waffle: American Waffle With Milk Chocolate, Ferrero Rocher & Nuts
- Banana Maple Waffle: American Waffle With Maple Syrup & Bananas
The waffles were insanely good. What was great about them, especially, was the texture. They weren’t too rich or heavy, which worked perfectly with the chocolate and didn’t bloat or get too stodgy. They were crisp and slightly sweet without being overbearing. I loved them, and Charlotte was a big fan too- particularly of the Ferrero Rocher one!
We also tried two of their most popular cookie doughs. I am a massive cookie dough lover, so this is what I was most excited to try. We had;
- Heavenly Desserts Cookie Dough: White & Milk Choc Chip Cookie Dough With White & Milk Chocolate Topped With Strawberries
- Ferrero Rocher Cookie Dough: Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough With Nutella, Ferrero Rocher & Hazelnut Gelato.
These were insanely good. I’ve had cookie dough that is slightly dry on the outer edges, but Heavenly Desserts manages to nail this super easily. The consistency is perfect, with a sweet crunch towards the edges and on top, with a thick gooeyness in the middle, without being too sloppy! Absolutely perfect.
I would highly recommend this restaurant for both sweet teeth and the indifferent, it impressed both myself and my friend Charlotte and we have already discussed when we are revisiting the site.

*Thank you to Heavenly Desserts for providing our food for free. This, however does not sway my opinion whatsoever and I will always be honest in my reviews.
