Tis the season to party, and what better way than by adding a little shimmer and shine to your makeup collection. Quite often, my first port of call when I shop for new additions to my make up collection is Boots, Superdrug or John Lewis, but did you know that you can find some pretty damn good make up in your favourite high street clothing stores too? New Look have started venturing more into beauty and cosmetics, and I am loving the fact that I can shop for shoes and lipsticks at the same time.
Their packaging is simple and minimal, often with clear or silver toned packaging, ensuring the look of the makeup is slick and grown up. The focus too seems to not only be on simple and minimal boxes and bottles, but on simple and minimal make up looks too. There is a wide range of different sprays to ensure your makeup looks fresh, and dewy, as well as highlighters in powders and creams to ensure your dewy look is dazzling- perfect for the festive period.
So let’s take a closer look at some of my favourite pieces from New Look’s beauty range…
This palette is perfect for the upcoming festive season, as not only does it look super pretty and chic, but the shimmer pays off well and the colour is perfectly subtle, and not too solid. The colours are classed as pearlescent opal, peach beige and sun-kissed golden beige and not only do they look beautiful individually on the cheekbones, they also compliment each other really well when swirled together. I used this as well as the drops below in my Christmas party make up routine and I was shimmering away all night.
I’ve been using powder on top of my makeup for as long as I can remember, and it’s one of my favourite parts of my make up routine as it makes my skin look perfect- plus it helps with keeping my make up on throughout the night. I really liked this face powder, although it’s white, it dusts off well and is quite translucent. I would definitely recommending just a little bit though- quite often people go overboard with loose powder- I blame the baking phenomenon, and too much can often have a negative, caking effect.
I have majorly pale skin, and all too often, pale skin + colder months = a sallow, dry, worn out kinda vibe. Not cool. So when I saw this little gem, I had to pick it up. It smells delicious and is a perfect little pep me up throughout the day. I’ve only used this when I’m sans foundation, but it does state that you can use it to rejuvenate your makeup, so I may try it on days where my make up just isn’t glowing as well as it should be.
Ok so these babies are my favourite things out of the New Look make up range. They’re liquid highlighter glow drops, and they can be used in so many different ways. I picked up a warmer bronze colour, as well as a cooler silver colour as I like to switch up my metallic highlight depending on what I’m wearing that day. If I’m wearing warmer colours, or gold jewellery, my highlight will match, and if I’m wearing cooler colours or silver jewellery, I opt for a paler, silver or white shimmering highlighter!
The liquid highlighter has a weightless formula that blends instantly and illuminates your face. These glow drops can be used to create a buildable highlight from sheer to an intense shimmery finish, that gives a perfect glow to your complexion. It can be used alone if you want a fresh faced look, or it can mixed with foundation. You could even use a few drops only on your cheekbone and dust a powder highlighter (like the trio) on top to set it.
Have you tried anything from New Look’s beauty range? Let me know!
