I currently have more bags in my wardrobe and shelves than I would like to admit. I can’t help it, it’s a bit of an issue, albeit a beautiful one. I love bags so much that this birthday, I got three bought for me- two clutch bags, one makeup bag and one new purse. I think a bag can switch up any outfit, and take you from day to night in an instant. That boring LBD you’ve wore time and time again? Give it a modern update with a pastel coloured clutch and you’re good to go.
Bags aren’t just useful necessities in life, they’re stylish necessities in life, and you can tell so much by someone’s bag. You have the girls who like to stand out from the crowd with quirky prints and loud slogans. You have the girly girls who love soft colours, 3D floral effects and gemstone embellishments, you have the practical girls who love nothing more than tan leather bucket bags that you can keep EVERYTHING in, and you have the stylishly chic girls who love very large and structured bags that are versatile for everyday, and every night.
Me? I’m somewhere in between girly girl and stylishly chic. I absolutely love a dinky little clutch covered in snakeskin (faux) or sequins, but I also really love large leather bags that have a solid structure and contrasting panels for work. I generally carry around a lot of rubbish in my bags in the day, including several notepads, pens and more, so I do need to be able to find a bag that has quite a large inner.
Luckily for me, River Island caters to all aspects of my handbag taste, and I’m loving their SS18 collections. They are full of embellishments, brights, metallic aspects, structure and unique silhouettes. There is everything for me from bags for work, to clutches for the bar, and each and every one will go perfectly with my current SS18. It’s mainly black, with a touch of metallic and sparkle, meaning most colours match well! Below are some of my favourite styles that are on their site at this very moment…
