Watch A Film At Vue Leicester
I am a huge fan of the cinema. I always have been, and I always will be. I’m not entirely sure what it is about the cinema that I love. I suppose it’s a mixture of a giant screen, surround sound and a big box of sweet and salted popcorn. I’m also a firm believer of going VIP at the cinema, as it’s just so comfy and cosy. I really am in my element. However, cinemas got super expensive all of a sudden didn’t they?
A while back, my boyfriend and I visited the cinema and spent close to £50 just at the cinema alone. Granted we had VIP tickets, food and drinks but boy was it a shock when the cashier rang that all up. BUT, my friends, and this is a big BUT! The Vue have slashed their prices indefinitely, and you can watch any movie for just £4.99, with Mondays being even cheaper at just £3.99. Yes, that’s right, you can go and watch the latest blockbuster movie with just £5 in your wallet, and walk out with change. The VIP tickets aren’t that expensive anymore either, coming in at just £6.99. That extra pound is well worth it. More leg room, and more seat. What could be better.
Go Bowling At Hollywood Bowl
I am a big kid, and there’s something so soothing and exciting about the fluorescent lights in the bowling alley. It reminds me of the all the parties I used to go to when I was younger. I’m a huge fan of bowling, but I am absolutely terrible at it. Still, that’s all part of the fun isn’t it? Not only do you get the experience of bowling, you have an added bonus in the form of the arcade. Personal favourites are the piano machine, that’s essentially like a giant version of a piano style guitar hero- you push the correct key when it flashes up on screen, Mario Kart, because I am awesome at it, and air hockey. I consider these sports in their own rights haha.
Grab A Bite To Eat At Frankie & Benny’s
There are many restaurants at the Meridian, so nomatter what your taste is there is bound to be an eatery that caters for you. One of the most popular restaurants at the Meridian is Frankie & Benny’s. The restaurant itself has been recently refurbished, with a slicker more modern aesthetic, a more open plan space, and more room at the bar- something that cocktail lovers will rejoice at. They even have mocktails for the drivers, the pregnant, or the kiddies.
There has also been a shake up to the menu. One notable thing that I love about Frankie & Benny’s is their breakfast, so I was delighted when I was asked to come and review their evening menu. I haven’t eaten dinner at F&Bs since I was at those parties I spoke about above. I also love the fact that they play super old school tunes, as they want the atmosphere to be old Americana and it certainly does the trick. For starters, we chose Sticky BBQ Chicken Wings and a new addition, the Cod & Crab Bites which were absolutely delicious.
For mains, we opted for a steak and a chicken dish which both needed just a touch more love and flavouring. I will note however that due to it being a day or two after they reopened, they were extremely busy, so I will forgive the chef for missing out the seasoning!
My guest didn’t have room for a pudding, so chose an irish coffee and I chose something that was very up my street- a cookie dough & caramel sundae!! It was tasty and I was completely full when we left.
Frankie & Benny’s is perfect for a party, whether young or old, and has something on their menu for all different tastes!
Sip On A Cocktail Or Two At Chiquitos
If you fancy a bit of a cocktail crawl after your meal at Frankie & Benny’s, I’d recommend heading to Chiquitos next to order a cocktail or two. They have classic cocktails as well as cocktails with a little kick and the atmosphere inside is great for a chilled drink or two.
