Creating A Bespoke Fragrance With The Perfume Studio

I am a huge lover of perfume. However, I’m not one of those girls that has just one signature scent. I have several favourites, including in no particular order, Thierry Mugler Alien and Womanity, Ghost Deep Night, Flowerbomb, Chanel Mademoiselle and many more. One thing is for certain though, I do like quite strong perfumes, and ones that are a mixture of sweet and spicy. Give me jasmine, rose, pepper, amber and sandalwood and you’ve got a very happy girl on your hands.

So, I was delighted to discover that The Perfume Studio allows you to create a bespoke fragrance, and that you can combine some of the above scents into one. Perfect! Not only do they do fantastic DIY kits, but they host events that you can attend, such as perfume making and afternoon tea- perfect for a party or a hen do.

I was lucky enough to get my hands on a bespoke kit. The Exotic Floral kit to be exact. For just £49, you can create a unique perfume that is entirely your own. Plus, it is SO easy and so fun to create your bespoke scent.

The Exotic Collection contains everything you need to expertly create your own bespoke perfume including 6 exclusive perfume blends, carefully selected by Master Perfumer, Francois Robert.

This selection of 6 fragrance accords from around the world inspires a distinctively sensual perfume. With sophisticated spices and woody notes, heightened with amber and oriental floral blends.

• Fruity: Key notes: guava, peach, blackcurrant, mango and pear.
• Exotic Floral: Key notes: jasmine, violet, sandalwood.
• Spicy: Key notes: cardamom, black pepper, ginger.
• Musky: Key notes: coriander, rose, musk, muguet and peach.
• Gourmand: Key notes: coconut, rhubarb, sweet almond, jasmine, patchouli, sandalwood, vanilla, caramel.
• Amber: Key notes: bergamot, cardamom, cinnamon, olibanum, geranium, clary sage and amber.

The also set includes;

1 x Beautiful Glass 30ml Dressing Table Atomiser
6 x Pipettes
6 x Scent Strips
1 x Easy to follow Instruction Booklet.

I tested each scent to see which ones were my favourite. The booklet has recommendations on amounts to mix, but I kind of freestyled it in the end based on which scents were my favourite. You don’t necessarily have to use all six, but I loved them all to be honest, so I used varying amounts of each.

Once I had worked out which ones were my initial favourites (see below) I grabbed my pipette and went at it. I added small amounts of each at first and built it up, adding my preferred scents. I prioritised the lighter scents and added more of those than the strong ones, as I felt it was easier and probably safer to do that without overpowering the perfume.

Once I was happy with the smell, and the bottle itself was filled up, I just screwed the lid back on, gave it a little shake to mix it properly and there it was. My brand new, bespoke perfume. It’s a very floral and spicy scent, and reminds me a lot of my beloved Chanel, which is absolutely fantastic.

I took it to work and let some of my colleagues have a sniff, and they were all really impressed with the scent too. The staying power is great, lasting throughout the day, and it is definitely now among my collection of favourite fragrances.

These would be perfect for presents for any fragrance fan, and the range includes;

  • The Fresh Collection
  • The Exotic Collection
  • The Floral Collection
  • The Natural Collection

Plus bigger sets filled with all manner of scents, ideal for those looking for their perfect fragrance.
